Chess for everyone

Tiny Chess is a chess game with an interface built so that a child can pick it up without help — and rules deep enough that nobody ever outgrows it. It speaks English and Vietnamese, plays full FIDE chess, and looks like a toy on purpose.

You learn by beating 25 hand-written friends across five chapters, from the Rookies to the Legends. You play a friend with a short code like MIA-4827, or a stranger who is also waiting. And every day there is one puzzle: one position, one best move.

Three rules we keep

No ads, ever

Nothing interrupts a game, nothing is sold between moves, and nobody is watching you play.

Free stays free

All 25 friends, the daily puzzle, and playing online — free, with no sign-in. Locking the fun parts behind a paywall would make the game useless to anyone who hasn't paid, so we don't.

You can see inside VIP

A subscription you cannot see the inside of is a hard thing to buy. VIP comes with a free trial day, and its coach shows its work — every game names the mistake and explains why.

Standing on good shoulders

Daily puzzles come from the Lichess puzzle database (CC0). VIP analysis is powered by Stockfish running on our server, and the written explanations are generated with Claude. The rest — the engine you play against for free, the pieces, the whole toy — is made in-house, with ♥.
